Everyone wants to trade profitably, and almost every trader carries an idea they would love to try. RSI overbought, MACD agrees, price above the EMA 200. Or FX Power combined with FX Trend, just to see what comes out. Getting an answer used to mean a long detour through MQL5 courses or a freelancer.

Since 31 October the road is short. On BuildYourTools you describe your idea as precisely as you can, and you are guided step by step to the finished .ex5 file. You load it into the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester and see how your rules would have played out on past prices, often on the same day you had the idea.

From the idea to the finished file: a sessions indicator on BuildYourTools, from the first sentence through clarification, prototype and order to the chart image from the Strategy Tester

From idea to file in seven steps.

  1. Describe. One sentence or ten, in your words. Templates help with the first line: a condition alert, a sessions panel, a trade manager.
  2. Clarify. BuildYourTools asks step by step and suggests answers. Then it sums up what you told it, and you confirm before anything is built.
  3. Prototype. You see your tool as a mock-up on the chart, with the settings you will have. Want something changed? Say it, and the next round shows it.
  4. Order. You see one fixed price and pay with credits. Everything up to here is free, the clarification and three prototype rounds included.
  5. Build and check. We build and compile, and we fix errors and warnings ourselves. Then we check it in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester: an indicator has to calculate and draw as in the prototype, an expert advisor has to execute trades, also on an account with a symbol suffix such as EURUSD.r. Scripts and utilities are delivered compiled.
  6. Download and try. You get the .ex5 file with an install guide, together with the chart image from our check. From there the Strategy Tester is yours, and your idea gets its answer.
  7. New version. Your tool grows with you: each new wish becomes a new version at a fixed price, and earlier versions stay available to download. Something differs from the prototype? We fix that free of charge.

A sessions panel, for example. You want Asia, London and New York on the chart and listed in a panel. The classic trap with such a tool is time: your broker's server runs on its own clock, and sessions drawn on the wrong offset sit hours away from the real market. BuildYourTools asks in the clarification which time zone you think in, and the prototype shows every session in your broker's server time, the clock of your MetaTrader 5 chart. It is one of many details we know from building our own tools, and the clarification brings each one to the table before you order.

Your idea can bring in our tools. FX Power, IX Power, FX Dynamic, FX Levels and FX Trend slot straight into your tool, and it reads their values directly in your MetaTrader 5. For indicators and expert advisors, our Strategy Tester check confirms that your tool loads the product and receives its data. The product needs to be installed in your MetaTrader 5, bought or rented.

One account, one balance. You sign in with your Stein Investments account, the same one you use on stein.investments, REVDEN and AlgoCheck. Your credits are one balance for BuildYourTools and Max, our coach. Your idea belongs to you: we use it solely for your project and show it only with your consent.

Why BuildYourTools exists. In the MQL5 Market every publisher builds their own picture of a useful product, and we do the same with our tools. Sometimes that matches your taste as a trader, sometimes less so. What was missing was a fast, affordable and properly engineered way to have your own idea built and simply try it. BuildYourTools closes that gap. The only thing between your idea and its answer is your description, where a freelancer or a coding course used to stand, and that is how you move forward faster as a trader.

Start with the idea that has been on your mind on buildyourtools.net. The fixed prices per project are in the pricing section.

The clarification and the prototype come from an AI; build, compile and the Strategy Tester check run on our side before you receive a file. For indicators and expert advisors, the function test confirms that your tool works as specified. Your own Strategy Tester run shows how your rules would have played out on past prices; whether an idea has an edge is answered by that test, and the check before delivery leaves that judgement to you.
