The community on stein.investments received a broader editor upgrade today, covering five distinct additions. Three work for everyone, two are reserved for Supporter members and above.
Images in posts are now supported throughout the editor - in new threads and in replies alike. You can drag & drop image files directly onto the text area, paste screenshots from the clipboard, or use the image button to pick multiple files from your system. Each image is inserted at the current cursor position, which means you can place several screenshots throughout a post rather than having them all bunched at the bottom. Uploaded files go through a magic-byte signature check, not just a MIME-type check, so renaming a non-image file to .jpg does not bypass the filter. Only real JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP up to 5 MB pass.
Quote replies work by text selection. Highlight any passage inside an existing post and a "Quote selection" button appears next to your selection. Clicking it scrolls the reply composer into view and pre-fills the quoted passage together with the author name. This makes it possible to respond to a specific statement without quoting the full post - and you can stack multiple quotes in a single reply by selecting different passages in sequence.
Emoji picker is built into the editor toolbar, grouped into four categories oriented toward the trading context: Smileys, Trading, Signals, Actions. The previous shortcode syntax (like :fire: or :chart_with_upwards_trend:) continues to work in parallel for people who prefer typing.
Voice input is the first of the two Supporter-tier features. A microphone button in the toolbar starts a recording, Groq Whisper Large v3 Turbo transcribes the audio, and the resulting text is inserted at the cursor. German and English are auto-detected. No audio is ever stored or logged - the audio file is forwarded to Groq for transcription and discarded afterwards.
AI Rewrite is the second Supporter-tier feature. A sparkles button next to the microphone sends the current text to a Claude Sonnet prompt that restructures free-flowing writing into cleanly organized paragraphs, adds sensible sub-headings for longer posts, and converts enumerations into proper lists. The prompt is explicitly constrained to keep all facts, keep the original tone, and preserve existing Markdown images, links and code blocks unchanged. Language stays as written. An undo banner appears for 30 seconds after every rewrite, restoring the original text with one click if the result does not fit.
Voice input and AI Rewrite require a Supporter membership or higher. Images, quotes and emojis work on the free tier without restriction.
